๐Ÿ“Ž In today’s highly competitive job market, having an ATS (Applicant Tracking System) optimized resume is crucial.

๐Ÿ“Ž Many companies use ATS software to filter resumes before they reach hiring managers.

๐Ÿ“Ž According to studies, 75% of resumes never make it past these systems.

๐Ÿ“ Use Standard Headings: Stick to common headings like “Work Experience,” “Education,” and “Skills.”

๐Ÿ“ Keep Formatting Simple: Avoid complex layouts, tables, and graphics that might confuse ATS.

๐Ÿ“ Incorporate Keywords: Use job-specific keywords from the job description to ensure your resume matches the job requirements.

๐Ÿ“ Use a Professional Font: Stick to fonts like Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri to ensure readability.

๐Ÿ“ Tailor Each Resume: Customize your resume for each job application to match the specific job requirements.

๐Ÿ“ Add Right Keyword in the Resume

๐Ÿ“ Educational Qualification

๐Ÿ“ Professional Experience (If applicable)/Internships

๐Ÿ“ Technical Skills – Try to frame technical skills (should look like you know very much things)

๐Ÿ“ Certificates and Courses like Udemy, Coursera, ISTBQ

Here is how to ensure your CV passes the ATS test and lands interviews:
1๏ธโƒฃ Use a Simple, Clean Format Forget fancy designs, tables, or graphics. ATS struggles to read them. Stick to a clean, text-based layout with clear headings (e.g., Work Experience, Education, Skills).
2๏ธโƒฃ Optimize with Keywords Recruiters search for candidates using specific keywords from the job description. Mirror these terms in your CV, especially in the skills and experience sections.
3๏ธโƒฃ Use Standard Job Titles Instead of using creative job titles like “Marketing Ninja”, stick with industry-standard titles like “Digital Marketing Specialist.” The ATS recognizes common titles better.
4๏ธโƒฃ Avoid Headers & Footers Some ATS systems canโ€™t read text inside headers and footers. Keep your name and contact details in the main body of your CV.
5๏ธโƒฃ Use Bullet Points for Readability Keep your CV concise and scannable with bullet points instead of long paragraphs.

Example:

โœ… Increased sales by 35% through targeted email campaigns.

โœ… Led a team of 10 developers in launching a fintech app.

6๏ธโƒฃ Save in the Right Format Most ATS prefer Word (.docx) over PDF, unless the job posting specifies otherwise. Word documents maintain formatting better for ATS parsing.

7๏ธโƒฃ Donโ€™t Stuff Keywords Unnaturally Yes, ATS looks for keywords, but keyword stuffing makes your CV look robotic. Write naturally while ensuring the right terms appear in context.
8๏ธโƒฃ Test Your CV Run your CV through free ATS scanners online to check if itโ€™s readable and well-optimized.

๐“๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ž Making your resume stand out starts with eliminating the clutter. Hereโ€™s what you should take off:
1. โŒ Objective Statement โ€“ Replace it with a tailored summary or career profile.
2. โŒ Unnecessary Personal Information โ€“ Skip details like marital status, full address, or age.
3. โŒ Outdated Work Experience โ€“ Remove roles older than 10-15 years unless highly relevant.
4. โŒ Irrelevant Skills โ€“ Keep your skill section focused on whatโ€™s needed for your target roles.
5. โŒ “References Available Upon Request” โ€“ Employers assume you have them.
6. โŒ Short-Term Jobs or Gaps with No Explanation โ€“ Make your work history concise and strategic.
7. โŒ Forgetting a professional file name for your resume.
8. โŒ Don’t mention your personal details i.e., DOB, Marital Status, Age, etc.
9.โŒ Don’t Use colour like Holi with your resume i.e., don’t over decorate or use fancy colors in resume, keep it plain and professional
10.โŒ If you’re a fresher, do not make resume more than 1 page
11.โŒ 100 percentage Confidence about Technical part added. You don’t know much in the Technical part. Please Avoid Don’t add too much languages
12.โŒ Irrelevant Work Experience – Focus only on roles that showcase your skills and value for the specific job.
13.โŒ Personal Details – No need for marital status, full address, or Social Security number.
14.โŒ Outdated Skills – Ditch old technologies or tools no longer in demand. Keep your skills current and job-relevant.
15. โŒ Unprofessional Email Address – Ensure your email is professional, e.g., yourname@gmail.com

Here are some strategies I followed while creating this ๐Ÿ‘‡
โ†’ Removed my photograph and personal details.
โ†’ Kept the resume to one page since my experience is less than 4-5 years.
โ†’ Used readable fonts like Arial and Calibri.
โ†’ Eliminated all spelling and grammatical errors.
โ†’ Avoided partitioning the resume for a smoother read.
โ†’ Used bullet points in the work experience section instead of paragraphs.
โ†’ Added relevant keywords based on the job description.
โ†’ My mobile number, email address, LinkedIn, and GitHub are at the top.
โ†’ Used metrics and numbers to quantify the impact of my work.
โ†’ Focused on four key sections: Technical Skills, Work Experience, Education, and Personal Projects/Certifications.

I recently tested my MS Word resume through an ATS (Applicant Tracking System), and it scored 95%!

โœ…๐Ÿ’ผ Many resumes get filtered out before reaching a recruiter due to poor formatting, missing keywords, or incorrect structuring. To help you create an ATS-friendly resume, here are some key steps:

๐Ÿ›  Steps to Create an ATS-Optimized Resume:

1๏ธโƒฃ Use a Simple Format โ€“ Avoid fancy designs, tables, or graphics. Stick to MS Word (DOCX) or PDF.

2๏ธโƒฃ Include Industry Keywords โ€“ Add relevant skills, technologies, and job-specific terms (e.g., “Machine Learning,” “Python,” “Flask”).

3๏ธโƒฃ Use Standard Headings โ€“ Education, Skills, Experience, Projects, Certifications (Avoid creative section names).

4๏ธโƒฃ Quantify Achievements โ€“ Instead of “worked on a chatbot,” say “Developed an AI chatbot that improved efficiency by 80%.”

5๏ธโƒฃ Hyperlink Portfolio & GitHub โ€“ Make it easy for recruiters to check your work.

6๏ธโƒฃ Avoid Images & Text Boxes โ€“ ATS may not read them correctly.

Delete these from your CV.

1. Marital status
2. Your Secondary School & Higher Secondary School (but if you are a fresher then don’t delete it’s mandatory)
3. Your date of birth (Not mandatory)
4. Your religion/Caste
5. Your hobbies. Nobody is going to shortlist your CV because you live traveling. Unless it is a travel agent job.
6. Lastly remove your ID number.
7. Irrelevant work experience and skill sets. Irrelevant stuff you include to make your CV long might in most cases work against you.
