This opportunity is ideal for a highly motivated student eager to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of green chemistry and defense waste remediation.
🔬 Project Title:
“Ionic Liquids: A Green Method to Separate Fluoropolymers from Metal Powders”
This interdisciplinary research project, led by Dr. Rocío L. Pérez, with co-mentorship from Dr. Jianzhou He and Dr. Stetson Rowles, focuses on the development of novel ionic liquid-based separation technologies to sustainably manage fluoropolymer-metal composite waste generated by defense operations.
You will work across two campuses—Statesboro and Armstrong—and engage in innovative research that directly addresses national environmental challenges while advancing sustainable materials recovery methods.
🎯 Ideal Candidate Profile:
✔ Holds a degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field
✔ Strong interest in green chemistry, sustainable materials, and waste remediation
✔ Experience with analytical instrumentation, polymer chemistry, or ionic liquids is advantageous
✔ Willingness to conduct collaborative research across multiple campus sites
