As an Engineer I at American Express, you will work in the Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) team, focusing on the runtime operation and support of large-scale enterprise applications. You’ll collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to maintain optimal performance and availability of mission-critical applications.
This is more than just a coding role — you’ll play a strategic role in optimizing systems, resolving outages, and improving user experience through proactive monitoring and automation.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for production applications ensuring uptime, performance & scalability.
- Identify root causes for outages and implement permanent fixes.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance reliability and performance.
- Develop and maintain monitoring tools, dashboards, alerting systems, and SRE scripts.
- Work on automation using Python, Ansible, or similar tools to reduce manual workloads.
- Manage incidents and post-mortem documentation.
- Apply best practices in CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, cloud deployment, and system integration.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or related technical disciplines.
- Open to candidates graduating in 2023, 2024, or 2025.
Technical Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Java, Python, C/C++, or scripting languages.
- Solid understanding of:
- Object-Oriented Design (OOD)
- Operating Systems
- Data Structures & Algorithms
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Working knowledge of relational (Postgres, DB2) and NoSQL databases (Redis, Couchbase).
- CI/CD tools: Git, Jenkins, Maven
