Job Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate (preferably in their 3rd or 4th year) with a strong background in causal inference and an interest in causal reasoning. This is a full-time, remote internship where you will contribute to cutting-edge research in causal inference and its applications in LLMs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research on causal reasoning, leveraging potential outcomes or structural causal models.
• Implement and experiment with causal inference methodologies in Python and PyTorch.
• Work with causal inference libraries to develop and validate models.
• Apply causal reasoning techniques to enhance LLM interpretability and robustness.
• Collaborate with researchers to explore novel applications of causal inference in language models.
• Present findings through reports and discussions with the team.

Work Location:

Remote/Bengaluru/Mumbai

Duration of the paid internship:

The internship will be for 6 months starting April third week of 2025.

The working hours are from 9:00 to 18:00 (Monday to Friday) full-time.

Essential Education:

Preferred Ph.D. candidate for this internship with thesis aligned towards causal inference or data science topics. We also welcome candidates with Bachelors and Master Degree who have sufficient project/prior internship work experience in Causal area.

Skills required:

Essential Skills:

• Strong understanding of mathematical foundations in causal inference, including potential outcomes and structural causal models.
• Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and their underlying architectures.
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch and HuggingFace.
• Experience working with causal inference libraries.
• Ability to work independently and dedicate full-time effort. .

Good to have Skills:

• Prior research experience in causal reasoning applied to machine learning or LLMs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
